Our Weekly Training Rhythm

Rather than training the same way every day, each practice has a specific purpose that helps athletes improve throughout the season.

Monday – Aerobic Development & Running Mechanics

Mondays focus on building endurance while reinforcing proper running form and efficient movement. Mary Grogan Park provides a safe, flat environment where athletes of different abilities can train together while completing workouts appropriate for their experience level.

Tuesday – Speed, Power & Hills

Cross country courses often include hills and changing terrain. Training at Ustach Park allows athletes to develop leg strength, power, coordination, and running efficiency while improving overall speed.

Thursday – Race Preparation

Thursday practices at the Modesto Junior College track emphasize race-specific workouts, pacing, intervals, and finishing speed. The controlled environment allows athletes to develop confidence before competition.

Saturday – Long Run & Team Building (Early Season)

Saturday morning practices during the early part of the season focus on gradually building endurance through longer runs at local parks and trails. These practices also provide opportunities for athletes to build friendships and strengthen our team culture.
