Eleven athletes from Central Valley Roadrunners represented the Modesto-based youth track and field club at the 2026 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships.
Held July 27 through August 2 at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California, the Junior Olympics brought together youth athletes from across the country for seven days of national-level competition.
Qualifying for the Junior Olympics is a significant accomplishment. Athletes must advance through both the USATF Association and Regional Championships before earning the opportunity to compete on the national stage.
Central Valley Roadrunners Junior Olympic Athletes
The following Central Valley Roadrunners athletes competed at the 2026 Junior Olympics:
- Aaliyah Jones: 200 meters and 4×100-meter relay
- Amaya Krumeich: High jump, javelin and long jump
- Brenden Visser: 400 meters and 800 meters
- Claire VanderVeen: 800 meters and 1,500 meters
- Elias Krumeich: Discus and javelin
- Giovanni Paoluccio: Triple jump
- Isaiah Krumeich: Javelin
- Jade Haveman: 4×100-meter relay
- Julius Krumeich: Javelin and long jump
- Leia Daniels: 4×100-meter relay
- Zoey Layfield: 4×100-meter relay
Together, Aaliyah Jones, Jade Haveman, Leia Daniels and Zoey Layfield represented Central Valley Roadrunners in the girls’ 4×100-meter relay.
Four All-American Performances
Central Valley Roadrunners finished the national championships with four All-American performances. Athletes who place among the top eight in their event earn USATF Junior Olympic All-American honors.
Brenden Visser finished third in the nation in both the 400 meters and 800 meters, earning All-American honors in two events.
Claire VanderVeen placed seventh in the 1,500 meters to earn All-American honors.
Julius Krumeich finished eighth in the javelin and also earned All-American honors.
These results reflect the commitment each athlete showed throughout the season—from regular practices and local meets to the qualifying rounds that led them to the national championships.
Representing the Central Valley on the National Stage
We are proud of all 11 athletes for representing Central Valley Roadrunners and the greater Modesto community at the highest level of USATF youth competition.
Competing at the Junior Olympics requires months of preparation, the support of families and coaches, and the courage to compete against some of the best youth athletes in the country. Every athlete who made the trip gained valuable experience that will stay with them well beyond this season.
